Overview
Ever visited Uganda’s most isolated park that lies in the rugged and semi-arid valleys. Africa’s finest wilderness, Kidepo valley national park. Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area which lies at the northern end of the Albertine rift valley, Murchison falls national park. The last remaining expanses containing both lowland and montane forests in East Africa, the home to a large number of endangered chimpanzees as well as red colobus monkey and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey, Kibale national park. The park with diverse ecosystems with over 600 bird species and ten primates and more than 90 mammal species due to its humid forests and sparkling lakes, The queen Elizabeth national park. Then visit Bwindi Impenetrable national park, which is most notable for half of the world’s population of the endangered mountain gorillas, many types of butterflies and birds, different trees and ferns species. Mgahinga gorilla national park has a beautiful bamboo forest, Albertine Rift montane forests, Rwenzori-Virunga montane moorland with tree heath, Rwenzori turacos, Rwenzori batis, mountain masked Apalis, and an alpine zone at higher altitudes. Our fun fact safari will end at one of Uganda’s top natural treasures and splendor, the loveliest with green and lush terraced hills, Lake Bunyonyi.
Our fun fact 16 days trip is a fly-in safari from Entebbe airport to Kidepo valley national park then the rest of the trip will be by a Land Cruiser.
We start our journey from Kidepo valley-Murchison falls-Kibale-Queen Elizabeth-Bwindi impenetrable –Mgahinga gorilla national park-Lake Bunyonyi –Entebbe airport.
Day 1:
Entebbe - Kidepo
Day 2:
Full Day at Kidepo Valley.
Morning breakfast then proceed to the remote wilderness with your packed lunch to spend the full day exploring the stunning landscapes and wildlife viewing, the park has arguably the most diverse fauna, rich in predators including cheetah, leopard, lion, side-stripped jackal, black-backed jackal, bat-eared fox and other animals including buffalo, zebra, elephant, great and lesser kudu, Guenther’s dik-dik, spotted hyena. The red thorn acacias, desert dates, and drumstick trees make a beautiful scenery of the Narus and Kidepo valleys. After having lunch you can also do cultural activities which include visiting Karamojong village learning about their traditional way of life. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3:
Kidepo valley –Murchison falls national park.
Early morning breakfast check-out from the hotel/camp en route Kidepo valley for a two-hour game drive then head to Murchison falls, a unique park of forests, savannah, lakes and waterfalls that lies at the northern end of Albertine rift valley. Arriving in time for lunch rest band evening game drive. The river banks are dotted with buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles while leopards, lions, and giraffe’s elephant’s chimpanzees roam the forests and savannah, and several bird species. Return to the camp for dinner & overnight.
Day 4:
Full day at Murchison falls
Day 5:
Murchison falls –Kibale forest.
One more game drive as we head to Kibale forest national park, arriving in time for lunch at your accommodation relax and then afternoon nature walk to get a close encounter with the natural diversity of the park and feel the presence of the natural air and learn about the flora and fauna, plants and vegetation. Several monkey species such as red colobus and L’Hoest’s, the park consists of both lowland and montane forests with the highest diversity and concentration of primates in Africa and approximately 229 species of trees found within the moist tropical forests of the park after the evening walk return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 6:
Full day at Kibale forest
Early morning breakfast and we start our chimpanzee trekking expedition, the park has a denser population amounting to 1500 primates. The evocative pant-hoot calls of these chimpanzees are the common sounds in the forest and will play a big part in leading you to these apes, after spending time with these apes we return to the camp for lunch and later a visit to Bigodi wetland sanctuary tour then return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 7:
Kibale - Queen Elizabeth national park.
Morning breakfast as we go for bird watching in the forest which is a big sanctuary for bird species harboring over 150 bird species. Some of the birds include superb sunbird, yellow-billed barbet, black and white shrike flycatcher, white-tailed ant-thrush among others. Return to the hotel check out and head to Queen Elizabeth national park, the park with Rwenzori Mountains as the backdrop and extends from Lake George in the north-east. To Lake Edward in the southwest connected by the Kazinga Channel, Queen Elizabeth has a variety of habitats including lakes, savannah, grassland, lush forests, and wetlands. The most accessible part of the park is savannah a quick game drive through the park as we head to your chosen accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 8:
Full day at Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 9:
Queen Elizabeth - Bwindi impenetrable
Morning breakfast with packed lunch check out of the camp to embark on a 3-4 hour drive to Bwindi impenetrable Enroute Ishasha sector in the northern part of Queen Elizabeth for a final game drive then after proceed to Bwindi impenetrable where the half of the world’s population of the highly endangered mountain gorillas are found,200 species of butterflies,27 species of frogs,100 species of mammals, chameleons, geckos, and many endangered species and incredible and beautiful flora with more than 1000 flowering plant species,160 species of trees and 100 species of ferns. The park is also a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, hornbills, and turacos and 14 habituated mountain gorilla groups .arriving in the afternoon.
Day 10:
Full day at Bwindi impenetrable forest.
After breakfast, at around 7:30 am, with packed lunch and drinking water, you will be transferred to the national park headquarters for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. Then proceed to the jungle in search of these gentle and endangered giants, a minimum level of fitness is required to have a successful trek after spending time with gorillas return to the lodge and relax, in the evening visit the Batwa community to learn more about their culture and the way of life then return to the hotel pick your bags and proceed to Kisoro hotel where you will spend the night.
Day 11:
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Early breakfast with your lunch boxes head to Mgahinga headquarters for a short briefing about hiking mount Sabyinyo which takes about 8hours round trip. Start your journey at the slopes of the mountain with beautiful bamboo forest habitat for the critically endangered mountain gorilla and golden monkeys, elephants, and buffaloes. The experience of being at the summit of three countries (Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo) is worth encountering. The best time to hike Mount Sabyinyo is during the dry season, the rainy season can turn the trail into a mud-filled and slippery mess, visibility may also be affected and the ladders may become dangerous, after a great day of hiking return to the lodge and relax.
Day 12:
Mgahinga – Golden Monkey
Arriving at the park headquarters at 7:am for pre tracking briefing (on does and don’ts of golden monkey tracking) hiking through the forests to sight golden monkeys is not so strenuous like gorilla trekking because golden monkeys live in lower elevations, after this wonderful adventure return to the lodge relax and later a visit to the Batwa community.
Day 13:
Kisoro - Lake Bunyonyi
Gorge walk in Mt. Sabyinyo volcano put on your hiking boots, the walk takes us through the lush vegetation in the gorge of MT Sabyinyo, very moist with dense forest vegetation which takes 5-6 hours, the walk is very strenuous yet enjoyable with spectacular views of Virunga volcanoes, Bwindi forest, Mgahinga national park, and the neighboring communities, the trail is the best birding spot including Rwenzori turacos, Ibis, paradise flycatcher, white-necked raven, olive pigeon, Rwenzori night jar among others with a beautiful waterfall .return to the lodge check out and drive to Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 14 & 15:
Lake Bunyonyi.
Our time to relax has finally come after 13 long days of game drives, hiking, trekking in the wilderness it’s now time to rest on the country’s top natural treasures lake Bunyonyi. so tranquil and peaceful, a lake with 29 islands popular for its green and lush terraced hills with over 200 bird species, water birds, and migratory birds perfect ideal for many bird enthusiasts, enjoy boat cruises and riding, nature walks, go shopping.
Day 16:
Bunyonyi –Entebbe.
After two days of resting at Lake Bunyonyi, we travel to Entebbe airport.
End of our fun fact safaris.
After breakfast depart for Arusha arriving for lunch at Impala Hotel and onwards to Nairobi arriving early evening..
